Divorce rate increases among baby boomers
A new study conducted at Bowling Green State University shows a growing trend in divorces among baby boomers in the United States.
Researchers analyzed divorce rate data from the federal government and determined that the divorce rate for people over the age of 50 has doubled over the last 20 years. In 2009, baby boomers accounted for one out of every four divorces that took place in America.
Several factors have been attributed to this large increase, including the increased age expectancy, the way baby boomers view marriage, and the changing views on life after divorce. However, financial aspects often come into play at this age, and the issue of retirement plays a role in the divorce process.
