San Francisco sheriff accused of hitting wife
Recently sworn-in San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi is facing allegations of domestic abuse.
A neighbor allegedly was told by Mirkarimi’s wife that he hit her, leaving a bruise, during an altercation on New Year’s Eve. The neighbor says that it appeared the family had a history of domestic abuse. She allegedly took a picture of the woman’s bruises at her request and they exchange text messages about the incident.
Mirkarimi strongly denies ever hitting his wife and the couple says that the allegations are a private, family matter. An investigation is currently under way. The District Attorney’s Office is expected to announce today whether or not to file charges.
